MaxiMatic EPC-808 8 Quart Pressure Cooker Review

You’ve likely heard the phrase in the past that you have to pay for quality and we’d definitely say that’s a sentiment that also applies to pressure cookers. There are a lot of incredibly affordable options out there when it comes to buying a good pressure cooker, however, if you’re really looking to get a good quality cooker, you’ll have to pay for it. Hopefully our MaxiMatic 808 review will help you decide if its worth your hard earned cash.

With that in mind, you can likely imagine that this particular pressure cooker from MaxiMatic is going to set you back a fair amount. However, that won’t be so much of an issue for those who are looking for a good quality product in their pressure cooker.

MaxiMatic EPC 808 Features

With the amount of money you’re going to be spending on this pressure cooker, you’d likely expect to see the product providing a good few features for your money. We’ve taken a look at some of the most prominent of those features in this review.

Browning Function – There’s one thing about using a pressure cooker that tends to make a lot of people avoid them and that’s the lack of proper browning. With some cheaper pressure cookers, it can often be the case that food just isn’t browned properly and then therefore doesn’t feel properly cooked. However, with the EPC-808, MaxiMatic have been keen to include proper browning functionality. This functionality is designed to give the visual effect that the meal has been cooked and browned as it would be in the oven.

It might not be the case that you’re particularly bothered about your food being properly browned; however, if you’re planning on serving pressure cooked food to your guests, you’ll want it to appear as impressive as possible. With that in mind, whether it’s this pressure cooker or an alternative, look for a product that provides proper browning.

Delay Timer – When it comes to a pressure cooker, the purpose of a delay timer is to allow you to let your food slowly cook over the course of the day. This is especially useful if you’re leaving for work early in the morning and want your food to be readily cooked by the time you get home. There’s nothing worse than having to come home at the end of a long day and get to work on a large meal for you and the family.

It isn’t uncommon for high-end pressure cookers to include a delay time to allow you to just that, however, you’ll usually find that the time stretches up to 10 hours at the most. With this pressure cooker, users can opt to delay cooking for up to 24 hours. So even if you’re going to be out of the house for longer than the day, your meal will be ready for you.

8 Quart Capacity – As we’ve already mentioned, the price point of this pressure cooker from MaxiMatic comes in fairly above the standard price you’d expect to pay for such a product. However, it doesn’t necessarily feature a capacity to suit.

The capacity advertised for this pressure cooker is 8 quarts. Whilst that isn’t exactly a limited amount of space, it’s nothing spectacular. When you take a look at the different pressure cookers available for around this price point, they tend to stretch to around 12 quart in terms of capacity. Considering the fairly expensive price point of this product, it would have been nice to see the capacity for extra storage included.

Whether or not that lack of extra storage capacity is a deal breaker depends on what you’re looking to get out of the pressure cooker and how many people will be using it.

Maximatic 808 reviewComplex Programming – One of the best things about pressure cookers is the ability to use them to cook just about anything in. However, in order to do that, you’re going to need to be able to adjust the pressure cooker’s settings to your liking. One of the great features about the MaxiMatic EPC-808 is the fact that the display panel allows for complex programming. If you already have a good understanding of how to use a pressure cooker, you’ll find this feature to be especially useful.

That being said, the product provides plenty of information about how to program your pressure cooker, making it easy to use even if you don’t need this extra functionality. With the MaxiMatic EPC-808, the programming functionality that you are given largely depends on how complicated you wish to use it – which is great to see.

MaxiMatic EPC-808 Pros:

If you think that this pressure cooker might be the best option for you, you’ll want to keep the following pros in mind. As you can tell from the above listed features, you can likely imagine that there’s a good few reasons to jump in and buy this pressure cooker.

  • As we’ve already discussed, browning can be something of an issue when it comes to cooking good quality food in a pressure cooker. However, the advanced browning capabilities of this pressure cooker prevent that from being an issue.
  • This pressure cooker includes the ability to set a delay time so that your meal will be cooked when you get home from work. What’s more, its 24 hour timer is much more comprehensive than we’ve seen from any other cooker on the market.

MaxiMatic EPC-808 Cons:

The above may be all very well and good, but there’s also cons that you’ll want to keep in mind before deciding whether or not to buy the pressure cooker.

  • Considering the fact that this pressure cooker is considerably more expensive than other pressure cookers, we would have liked to see a greater quart capacity.

In conclusion, whilst this is undeniably one of the most expensive pressure cooker options on the market, it might still be well worth your money. If you really care about the quality of the food cooked in your pressure cooker, the EPC-808 from MaxiMatic is for you. In general, it’s pretty difficult to go too far wrong when buying this particular product.

i purchased this cooker 3 weeks ago as a replacement for my stove top cooker and i have to say im glad i did, its a much simpler process. I only cook 3/4 times a fortnight & this is perfect. One thing i noticed right away was how quiet it is, its virtually silent. All round im delighted with it so far. Any problems i will come back and comment on it if thats ok.
